Because California’s fall season starts so late and ends so quickly, I wrote up a little bucket list of things I want to enjoy during the next few weeks before the holidays get underway. These are some of my favorite places to adventure off to when the weather gets cool, and it’s so easy to sneak away on a weeknight after the kids gets off of school. I hope this inspires a little bucket list for you too!
- Malibu: one of my favorite spots, especially on a weeknight after school. It’s EMPTY, and you basically have the whole place to yourself. Pack up an easy dinner and watch the sun go down. Don’t forget your sweatshirts though! That breeze and salty air does a number on my California heart!
- Hollywood Bowl with a Fall Picnic: The concerts slow down during November, but catch an amazing show like Bon Iver on October 23rd or see the live orchestra performance of a Tim Burton classic on Halloween weekend. Load up a bag of salami, cheese, crackers, fresh fruit, and your favorite pumpkin chai to keep those hands warm! Pack in your picnic and enjoy the show.
- Underwood Family Farms: The CUTEST pumpkin patch in Los Angeles. Seriously, the most amazing selection of pumpkins and so much fun for the whole family! Weekdays are the best time to go. Get a group together or if there’s enough of you, call for info on a “field trip” rate with all your friends! See more info in the post I did here.
- Hiking: Runyon Canyon, Tree People, Franklin Canyon & Nature Center…with cooler weather, any of these are great spots to explore and get some fresh air.
- Take a day trip: Los Olivos, Ojai, Santa Barbara, Ventura…anywhere along the coast is going to have the most beautiful weather this time of year. Do some research to find great parks or see if they have a weekly farmer’s market where you can pick up some fresh veggies or flowers. I love checking out different cities’ farmer’s markets and discovering their local gems.
This is just my short list; I could add so much more! But seriously, head to the beach during the fall! It’s empty and beautiful and you’ll feel like you’ve got your own private getaway. One of absolute my favorite things!! Get out there and enjoy! What’s on your bucket list!?
